Output quality designates the default level of AI processing used during conversion and generation projects. Higher quality levels apply additional processing and review to improve the resulting content, while lower levels prioritize speed and cost.
To access this form, select Studio Settings → General → Output quality.
Output quality has two independent preference cards.
-
Conversion quality controls the default review level for turning source files into digital questions.
-
Generation quality controls the default review level for questions drafted from study materials.
Conversion and generation quality are configured independently. Each offers Basic, Medium, and High. Basic is used when no saved preference exists.
Quality level descriptions
Basic prioritizes speed and cost.
-
Conversion: Performs the core extraction, answering, refinement, and validation processes. It skips additional processing such as deeper OCR, image enhancement, formula enrichment, HTML validation, and quality review.
-
Generation: Generates questions without an additional quality review and repair pass.
Medium balances processing quality and speed.
-
Conversion: Runs the full conversion pipeline using lighter AI models. This includes additional OCR, image and formula processing, HTML validation, and additional repair attempts.
-
Generation: Adds a quality review and repair pass using the lighter model tier.
High prioritizes the most production-ready output.
-
Conversion: Runs the full conversion pipeline using the strongest configured AI models, with deeper multimodal, formula, and image verification.
-
Generation: Uses the strongest configured models for additional quality review and repair.
Setting the default quality
Select a quality level on each card to establish the default used for new conversion or generation projects.
You can select a different output quality when creating or editing an individual project. Changing the quality for a project does not change the default configured in Studio Settings.
Saving your selection
There is no manual save button. TAO Studio saves the preference automatically when you select a different quality level.
After changing a preference:
-
Look for the green saved notification in the top-right area.
-
Wait for the notification to confirm that the preference was saved.
The updated default quality is then applied when creating or editing the corresponding conversion or generation project.
