Remote proctoring

TAO is integrated and can be configured for use with Proctorio, a remote proctoring solution that records and monitors test sessions to support secure online assessments.

Proctorio uses a test taker’s webcam, microphone, screen activity, and browser monitoring tools to help identify potential testing irregularities. After a session is completed, authorized users can review the recordings and flagged events for each test taker.

Important: Initial Proctorio enablement and configuration must be completed by OAT.

Proctorio integration in TAO

Once Proctorio has been enabled for your organization:

  1. Individual sessions are configured for remote proctoring.

    1. When Creating a session, navigate to the External proctoring section at the bottom of the form.

    2. Select the Proctorio option.

Test taker experience

For test takers (after starting a session with Proctorio enabled) the experience includes an initial diagnostic check before entering the session. This process verifies:

  • Internet/connectivity status

  • Webcam functionality

  • Microphone functionality

Additional information

  • Scoring remains fully within TAO.

  • Standard live monitoring capabilities in the TAO UI are available

  • Proctorio serves as an additional layer of remote monitoring and post-session review. For more information on how to navigate Proctorio (as a proctor or test taker), see the Proctorio documentation.
