2025-04

🎉 TAO April 2025 Release Highlights! 🎉

TAO Authoring Updates & Fixes

  • Bug fix: When moving resources (items, tests, deliveries, and assets) using drag and drop, your environment’s default permissions inheritance configuration will be applied automatically to the resources in their new location.

  • Bug Fix: Fixed a Safari-specific issue in the Test Authoring tool where item labels were either not displayed or appeared misaligned after re-entering a test. Item labels now render correctly in their own rows, ensuring consistent layout across supported browsers. This issue did not affect Chrome or Firefox.

  • Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where copying an asset with attached CSS resulted in an error message and the addition of a corrupted, non-removable read-only CSS file alongside the original. Assets can now be copied without errors, and attached CSS files are duplicated correctly without generating invalid or unusable files.

TAO Advance Updates & Fixes

  • User widget displayed during sessions: A user widget, similar to the one displayed in the top-right corner of the TAO Portal, can now be displayed for the test taker within TAO Advance. This user widget displays the user’s avatar, and can be expanded to display their username and name. If you're interested in enabling this feature, please talk to your Account Manager.

  • Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where original-size images inserted into an Extended Text Interaction appeared stretched in Review mode when placed next to another interaction (e.g., two Extended Text Interactions in a row). Images now retain their intended dimensions during a session review.

  • Bug Fix: Addressed an inconsistency in how the number of attempts (numAttempts) was recorded for skipped items in non-linear tests with maxAttempts configured. Previously, items that were first attempted then skipped counted for each visit, while items first skipped then attempted did not. Now, a consistent logic is applied: only visits where an actual attempt is made count toward the number of attempts recorded, regardless of whether an item is skipped before or after being attempted.

TAO Advance Proctoring Updates & Fixes

  • Extra time display in the proctoring view: Enhanced the proctoring interface to display both the predefined extra time (defined via LTI) and additional time granted by the proctor in a unified view. This provides proctors with clear visibility of the total time extensions for each test-taker. Proctors can only add to the existing extra time - negative values are not allowed - and they can reset only the extra time they’ve granted (not the predefined time). Resetting is disabled if the remaining time is equal to or less than the proctor-assigned time.

TAO Portal Updates & Fixes

  • Security Fix: Resolved a vulnerability issue where session reports could sometimes be accessed by test-takers who were not a part of the session. Access controls have been corrected to ensure that only authorized users can view session reports. This fix strengthens data privacy and prevents unauthorized access to sensitive assessment information.

  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where downloading a “Student Performance” or “Group Performance” PDF report after changing the test-taker or group in the filter would generate a report with the newly selected data, even if the report was not refreshed on screen. Now, the downloaded PDF correctly reflects the data currently displayed, ensuring consistency between the on-screen report and the exported file.

TAO Insights Updates & Fixes

  • Navigation events logged: Extended the Proctoring ACS logs in TAO Insights with new events triggered by any navigation of the test-taker within the test.

TAO Grader Updates & Fixes

  • UI Improvement: Enhanced the TAO Grader interface by updating the comments textbox to improve visibility and usability. The textbox background color has been adjusted for better contrast, making it clearly identifiable as an active input field. Additionally, layout issues causing the textbox to be partially hidden on the right side have been resolved, ensuring the full field is visible and easily accessible to scorers. These improvements help reduce confusion and enhance the overall scoring experience.

These updates aim to enhance usability, efficiency, and the overall TAO platform experience. We welcome your feedback and remain committed to continuous improvement. Thank you for your support! 🚀
