Publishing a test as a delivery
Publishing a test means creating a Delivery for an assessment.
In TAO there are two ways of creating a delivery (a “frozen” version of a completed test):
Follow the instructions described for creating a delivery
Publish a test directly from within the Test manager. The steps below show you how to publish the test directly.
Creating a delivery
1. Click on Deliveries in the Assessment Builder Bar.
This will take you to the Deliveries page, and will show the last delivery that has been created. On the left-hand side of your screen you will see the Delivery Library of existing deliveries. The last delivery which was created will be highlighted in the library. In this tour, however, you will create a new delivery.
2. Click on New delivery in the button bank under the library.
This brings up the “Create a New Delivery” dialog box, which asks for a test selection. From the pull-down menu, select the test that is to be sent to test-takers in this delivery. Once selected, click Publish.
To create a new delivery in a different folder, select the desired folder in the library, and then click on the New delivery icon in the button bank. To create a new folder (in TAO these represent new classes), click on New class in the button bank, and then give it a label. Highlight where to put the new folder relating to the new class.
If you open the delivery you have created, a properties panel will come up. You can use this panel to define the conditions in which the delivery should be delivered to test-takers.
Set the delivery properties:
Label: The default name of the delivery is ‘Delivery of Test Name‘. This can be changed as needed.
Title: Give your delivery a title.
Max executions: How many times this delivery can be used for a session.
Other delivery configuration settings many be enabled for your organization.
Publishing a test from the test manager
1. Click Publish in the button bank under the library.

2. In the “Publish” dialog, select the directory in which you want to create the delivery and click on Publish at the bottom of the dialog.
A Delivery of your test will then be created in the folder you have selected. Remember that the library in this dialog refers to your deliveries and not your tests.
If the background tasks functionality is installed on your version of TAO, the publishing process will be transferred to it (shown in a circle to the left of the Properties icon on the assessment builder bar). Clicking on the circle opens the list of tasks, containing information about each one. You can see here when the delivery has been created. The publish process may take a while, depending on the size of the test.
3. To configure the delivery you will still need to proceed as described in the section on “Creating a delivery”.
Open the delivery you have created to set the delivery properties in the same way you would when you create a delivery on the Deliveries page.
